Retired Annuitant: Second passport and residence

By Law No 9 of June 24, 1987, developed through Executive Decree Nº 62 of August 4, 1987, Panama grants a passport and residence to people that qualify as retired annuitants or pensioners.´

The requirements for acquiring a Retired Annuitant Visa are:

1.Power of Attorney and application, through an Attorney.2.Medical health certificate. (Valid for 3 months)3.Police Background from the country where he/she resided during the last 5 years, duly authenticated and translated and Police Record issued by Panama’s Judicial Technical Police (PTJ). 4.Certificate issued by the National Bank of Panama, which certifies that the interested party earns a minimum monthly revenue of seven hundred fifty Balboas (US $750.00), solely arising from interests product of fixed term deposits, free of any encumbrance or guarantee of any type. The mentioned fixed term deposit must be for a minimum term of five (5) years.5.Copy of slip or of the fixed term deposit contract, duly authenticated by the Bank. 6.Valid passport, and original and copy of all its used (stamped) pages.7.Two (2) sets of copies of the whole passport, each notarized before a Notary Public.8.Four (4) passport-size photographs9.Two sets of copies of all the documentation, except the passport.This visa is granted for a time period of 5 years.

When the 5 years expire, the person can request extensions, which will also be for 5-year Periods

b.Elimination of tax payment when importing one car every 2 years.
c.Elimination of import tax for furniture, up to US$ 10,000.
d.Elimination of taxes and discounts for services in the Republic of Panama, such a electric power, phone, water, movies, restaurants, hotels, national and international flight tickets, among others.

Pensioner or Retiree Residence By Law No 9 of June 24, 1987, developed through Executive Decree Nº 62 of August 4, 1987, Panama grants residences to people that qualify as Pensioned Tourists

The requirements for acquiring a Pensioned Tourist Visa are:1.Power of Attorney and application, through an Attorney.2.Medical health certificate. (Valid for 3 months) 3.Valid passport, and original and copy of all its used (stamped) pages.4.Copy of the whole passport, notarized before a Notary Public. 5.Document that certifies the following: a.His/her condition as retiree or pensioner by a foreign government, international organizations or private companies. b.That the interested party receives not less than five hundred dollars (US$ 500.00) or its equivalent in foreign currency as a monthly revenue or pension. If he/she has dependents, the revenue or pension must cover, in addition to the five hundred dollars, the sum of one hundred dollars (US$ 100.00) more for each one of the dependents.6.If the person is retired or pensioned by private companies, he/she must present documents that certify, by the corresponding overseas authority, that the mentioned company is operating, and he/she must also bring the voucher or payment receipt for the pension. 7.One (1) extra set of copies of all the documents presented, including the passport.This visa is granted for an indefinite time period.
Benefits:a.Elimination of tax payment when importing one car every 2 years.b.Elimination of import tax for furniture, up to US$ 10,000.c.Elimination of taxes and discounts for services in the Republic of Panama, such as electric power, phone, water, movies, restaurants, hotels, national and international flight tickets, among others.

Any alien who has the quality of retiree or pensioner, residing in the national territory, with fifty five (55) years of age if female and with sixty years (60) of age if male, will enjoy a series of benefits, among which are: a) A 50% discount on the prices charged as general admission to recreational or entertainment activities such as movies, theaters, sports and various public shows, b) A 25% discount on air fares from private or public companies

c) A 50% discount in hotels from Monday thru Thursday and 30% from Saturday thru Sunday, d) A discount of 25% on the individual food consumption value in first and second class restaurants, e) A discount of 10% on the value of drugs acquired with a doctor’s prescription.
